COVID-19

17th March 2020

Dear Parents / Students,

Firstly, we hope you are all safe and well at this difficult time.

As you would expect we have been monitoring the situation closely, which is why last week we introduced stringent new cleaning and sanitising of ballet barres, cups, surfaces, etc at all our classes as well as re-choreographing all work to avoid touching other dancers. We appreciate your understanding of this.

However, the situation has continued to change daily (sometimes hourly), and following the Prime ministers briefing yesterday and with advice from other parties today, we feel that we probably fall into the category of “non-essential activity and social contact”.

Sadly, we have to announce that we are suspending all classes until further notice.

This is the most difficult decision we have ever had to make and we are incredibly sad - our attitude has always been that “the show must go on!” but these are unprecedented times and we are also finding that venues and activities are closing all around us.

As this situation progresses, we will look at ways to keep your dancing passions alive (and ours!) so watch this space. We will also be offering catch up classes to make up for the rest of this term when we return.

We would like to personally thank you for your continued support at this incredibly tough time.

The Show DVD is likely to be available from early next week, and we will soon post the photos of the show in our website members area, so watch out in your email inboxes for further information.

Wishing you all every blessing for this time, we hope you and your families are all well

Winter Weather - Feb 2018

Fri 2nd and Sat 3rd March 2018 - Classes today and tomorrow are now reluctantly cancelled. The conditions around the Golden Green are about the same as yesterday and a forecast for freezing rain this evening will exacerbate the issues.

We have this morning driven up to the Brent and the road on the hill is extremely icy. There are also two abandoned cars so coming down you are blind to anything coming up and it's difficult to stop on the ice. It will also be difficult to keep the entrance lobby warm in the hall.

We can't wait now to get back to normal next week as we're really missing everyone.

Mrs Gibb and Mr Andy

Thurs 1st March 2018 - After reviewing the conditions around Golden Green Village, as well as the weather forecast for tonight, we have taken the decision to cancel classes tonight (Thursday1st March). The roads to the village are incredibly icy, and the increasing winds are drifting snow from fields onto the road, adding to the hazards.

Keep safe and warm!

Mrs Gibb and Mr Andy

Wed 28th Feb 2018 - Due to the severe weather conditions and the icy conditions around Goldsmid hall, we have had to cancel all classes for tonight. We currently hope to operate normal classes tomorrow (thursday) but will confirm by email, facebook and this website tomorrow afternoon. Have fun in the snow and stay safe!

Exams 2017

We are delighted to announce that all our students passed their examinations this summer. Well done everyone!

Our exams cover a wide variety of abilities.

  • Our youngest pupils (around 5 years old) took exams aimed to help them feel confortable in the exam environment. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and their teacher was in the exam hall to help them out.
  • Many students took Graded exams showing high levels of technique building as they work through the grades.
  • Some took Medal exams, aimed at showing performance skills alongside safe technique.
  • Some senior students took Intermediate and Advanced levels in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Musical Theatre, gaining UCAS points towards university clearing, in exams which are also recognised by many professional dance colleges and companies.
  • Our adult dancers took exams as solos, duets, trios and groups in Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz.

All exams were carried out by the IDTA (International Dance Teacher Association).
